King Nut Company Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak

On 01/10/2009, King Nut Companies, an Ohio-based distributor of Peanut Corporation of America peanut butter, issued a total recall of peanut butter distributed under the King Nut label.  Salmonella Typhimurium had been found in an open five-pound tub of King Nut peanut butter.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the salmonella outbreak has infected 399 people in 42 states.
